“Swaccha Goa Swaccha Neura” drive by Kala Academy Goa’s College of Theatre Arts in Neura Village
Kala Academy Goa’s College of Theatre Arts initiated a “Swaccha Goa Swaccha Neura” campaign in collaboration with Neura village panchayat, under the “Mission clean goa” initiative started by Sanjeevan society for Youth development in association with Directorate of Higher Education which aims at making Garbage free Goa.
The students and staff members of college in the presence of Principal Ramrao Wagh, Sarpanch of Neura village panchayat Mrs. Usha Naik, Panch members Ujwala Naik and Sandesh Naik, Secretary Miss Alba, Swayampurna Mitra Mr. Madhu Narvekar, Mr. Shivkumar Naik, members of village organization “Udaan”, Youth Club members and village development committee members conducted a meeting at village panchayat discussing about cleanliness drive and various garbage management activities to be carried out in the Neura village.
On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi a first step towards the cleanliness drive was taken considering the amount of puja items that goes into the water bodies. At all the Ganesh idol immersion sites, separate bins for collecting the puja items and “nirmalya” are to be placed. The amount of nirmalya collected will be transferred to the composting unit set up in the panchayat. Principal Ramrao Wagh released an Aarti sangraha containing information regarding bins kept at all the immersion places and its importance in the presence of Sarpanch Mrs. Usha Naik, Ex Sarpanch Ujwala Naik and other office bearers of Village organization “Udaan”. The pamphlets were distributed by members of “Udaan” organisation and students of the college by visiting the houses to spread awareness.
